Whether you’re a yoga teacher, dedicated student, or work in the human services profession, this experiential half-day workshop will give you the tools, confidence, and insight to create safer, more supportive spaces for yourself and others.

Trauma-Informed Principles:
Learn how to foster trust, choice, and empowerment in your personal yoga practice, any classes you teach or space that you hold.

Creating Safe Spaces:
Discover how to maintain physical and emotional safety in any yoga setting or other space that you hold.

Adapting Your Teaching/Facilitation Style:
Tailor your cues, language, and sequences to suit the mental health needs of your students/clients.

Responding to Emotional Distress:
Gain an understanding and confidence in identifying and responding to psychological and emotional states using yoga practices that lead students towards balance (regulation).Â

During this workshop, we'll look at some common mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, trauma and stress. You'll discover the importance of creating a safe container and understanding your scope as a yoga teacher/facilitator AND gain confidence in how to better support students to move toward true balance (regulation).
What to Expect
This workshop will include the presentation of clinical expertise combined with yogic wisdom—AND it’s also a hands-on, experiential workshop designed to give you practical tools you can start using immediately - in your own practice AND in a teaching/facilitation setting.
You’ll participate in:
- A Yoga Class for Mental Wellbeing: Includes dialogue, postures, pranayama and mindfulness techniques to empower students to manage their own state of being. You'll get to take a copy of this sequence home with you.
- A Fascinating Presentation:Â Exploring the Therapeutic Benefits of Yoga and Mindfulness.
- Interactive Activities and Reflective Exercises: Group discussions and embodiment exercises to build confidence in applying and teaching learned theory and techniques.

Who Should Attend?
Yoga Teachers: Deepen your ability to support students with varying mental health needs and create a more inclusive class experience.
Yoga Students: Explore how to use yoga to foster your own mental wellbeing and emotional resilience.
Other Professionals working in the human services space, interested in learning some yogic and facilitation techniques to better support mental health and wellbeing.
No prior experience with trauma-informed yoga is required.

You can make a meaningful difference in your students’ lives without being a licensed mental health professional. This workshop equips you with the skills to be a compassionate guide and provide a supportive space for healing and growth.
Workshop Facilitators
Sabine Schroeder
Sabine is a psychotherapist, counsellor and coach with 25 years experience, and a dedicated yoga practitioner for 35 years, and yoga teacher for the last few years. Sabine brings a unique blend of clinical expertise and yogic wisdom to this workshop training, covering the following topics:
- Exploration of the therapeutic benefits of yoga and mindfulness
- Learning skills to address diverse mental health needs within your yoga classes/facilitated space
- Understand the impact of trauma on the body and nervous system and creating a safe, trauma-informed practice.
- Deepen your understanding of the nervous system, how mental health can be conceptualised within the framework of the nervous system and how yoga fosters balance.
- Gain practical tools for enhancing your own practice and guiding others.

Erin Lee
As a yoga practitioner of more than 25 years, and a yoga teacher for 12 years, Erin intentionally holds yoga classes that are permissive, inclusive, accessible and mindfulness-based, supporting mental and emotional wellbeing as well as offering physical benefit.Â
In her own personal life, Erin has experienced the incredible benefits yoga offers during extremely challenging times, which she'll be sharing during this workshop. Erin will also guide the Yoga for Mental Wellbeing class, complementing Sabine's shared insights from her clinical expertise and yogic wisdom.


Erin is a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP®), which recognises her as an expert in one or more of Yoga Alliance’s Educational Categories. By completing this workshop you can receive a Certificate of Completion (4 hours).
